The inaugural creation, Rolls-Royce La Rose Noire Droptail, embodies the enchantment of the Black Baccara rose, delivering a uniquely romantic expression. With its dark, daring, and dramatic character, La Rose Noire Droptail is a remarkable achievement, reflecting one family’s distillation of experiences, significant moments, and treasured objets d’art. The meticulous craftsmanship spanning four years centers on the intense, velvety Black Baccara rose, cherished by the family’s matriarch.
La Rose Noire Droptail marks the renaissance of the roadster body type, featuring a cozy two-seat interior, a departure from Rolls-Royce’s traditional four-seat design, a first in the brand’s modern history.
Clients have the privilege of driving in two distinct styles. With the roof removed, it offers an exhilarating open-air experience typical of a roadster. With the hard roof in place, it transforms into an electrifying coupé.
The intricate curved shawl panel, fascia, and doors display Rolls-Royce’s most complex expression of parquetry ever crafted. Comprising 1,603 pieces of Black Sycamore veneer, it forms an abstract artwork of falling rose petals, enveloping the driver and passenger. The assembly demanded intense concentration, taking nearly two years of development and over nine months of meticulous craftsmanship.
The exterior coachwork is finished in the lustrous True Love red tone, capturing the Black Baccara rose’s myriad colors. A new paint process, involving five layers of clear lacquer with varying tones of red, achieves this rich variation.
The essence of the Black Baccara rose extends to the exterior brightwork, featuring a dark finish named Hydroshade, exclusive to La Rose Noire Droptail, which enhances the iconic Pantheon Grille.
The interior exudes opulence with Mystery leather and True Love leather in dark and light red, subtly finished with a copper shimmer. The intimate ambiance and low seating position reinforce the car’s romantic character.
At 5.3 meters in length and 2 meters in width, La Rose Noire Droptail’s exterior dimensions echo early Rolls-Royce roadsters, accentuated by a dramatic negative body line, directing attention towards the sharp sail cowls and distinctive ‘dropping’ rear.
