There is no better place than Japan if you are asking the question, ‘What is luxury?’. For the Island nation, it is a way of life. Japan is the world’s single largest market for high-end luxury goods.

A walk around Tokyo markets unravels a ceaseless parade of high-end handbags from Europe’s most prestigious fashion houses. The upscale markets of Tokyo house a multitude of boutiques of almost all the major luxury brands. Whether it is a department store or a standalone shop, we are sure to find goods of the finest brands in the world.

Japan conjures in our mind a diverse and colourful image of a blend of a rich culture and the most modern innovations. From the iconic Mount Fuji, Kyoto temples lined by cherry blossoms to the futuristic bullet trains and robots, Japan has it all. A visit to Japan is incomplete without a visit to the markets teemed with the best brands of the world. Luxury fashion, prestige cosmetics, fragrances, luxury watches and leather goods are part of many households of Japan.

Japan is called the world’’s first and only mass luxury market. Luxury fashion goods consumption in urban Japan is higher than other cities such as New York, Milan, Paris or London. While the words ‘’mass’’ and ‘’luxury’’ appear as odd partners, the Japanese opinion is completely different. Japanese consumers love luxury brands and are willing to spend a lot of money on them.

Any writing about Japan’s love for luxury is incomplete without a mention of the Japanese love for best in class cars. Lexus, Acura, Infiniti, Toyota Crown, and Toyota Century are few of the well known car brands from Japan. Car culture in Japan is unique, special and exciting, and it is no wonder since Japan is the birthplace of manufacturers like Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Mazda and Mitsubishi. Japan’s love for best in class cars could be because of it’s otaku culture. Someone who is an otaku is passionate about their hobby and possesses in-depth knowledge of it to the point of obsession. Japan’s love for style and luxury has made it the hub of world class luxury cars.
