Concierge vs. Ownership: Why Renting is the Ultimate Status Symbol

A Monument to Internal Combustion There are cars, and then there are Bugattis. The Bugatti Mistral is the final iteration of the legendary W16 engine that first debuted in the Veyron and reached its zenith in the Chiron. With only 99 units ever produced—all of which were sold before the public even saw the car—the Mistral is one of the most exclusive objects on the planet. It is not just a car; it is a $5 million moving sculpture designed to celebrate the end of an era.

The Mistral is powered by the same 8.0-liter quad-turbocharged W16 engine found in the record-breaking Chiron Super Sport 300+. It produces a staggering 1,578 hp (1,600 PS). Because it is a roadster, Bugatti had to completely re-engineer the monocoque to ensure the car remained stiff enough to handle its 420 km/h top speed. The result is the fastest open-top car in history, a vehicle that allows you to hear the raw intake of the four turbochargers directly behind your ears.

The “Wow” Factor: Aesthetics of Speed The design of the Mistral is a tribute to Bugatti’s history, specifically the 1934 Type 57 Roadster Grand Raid. The “wow” factor is the vertically stacked headlights and the “X” shaped taillights that span the entire rear, serving a dual purpose as vents for the engine’s massive cooling system. Inside, the craftsmanship is peerless. The gear shifter is machined from a solid block of aluminum and features an amber insert with a miniature “Dancing Elephant” sculpture, a nod to Rembrandt Bugatti.

The door panels feature a new woven leather pattern, a first for Bugatti, designed to look as good in ten years as it does today. For the UHNW individual, driving a Mistral is an assault on the senses. It is the feeling of the wind at 200 mph combined with the mechanical symphony of 16 cylinders working in perfect harmony.
